Marko is a Finnish entrepreneur and strategist whose work sits at the intersection of environmental innovation, circular economy, scalable business models for waste reduction and as well rescue sector with aerial platforms for firefighting.

Marko has held leadership roles across several organisations focused on sustainable waste systems, marine pollution solutions and rescue sector— including leadership at WasteTrade Finland (marketplace for recyclable materials), commercial and business development roles with Clewat (technology and vessels for removing plastic from rivers and seas), and initiatives such as RiverRecycle and Sagacity Environment aimed at creating financially viable local solutions to plastic pollution and urban environmental challenges.
Marko’s approach – designing solutions that are both environmentally beneficial and commercially sustainable — is a natural fit with BigU’s mission to incubate impact-driven projects that scale. His practical experience in building marketplaces for recyclables, piloting river-cleanup technologies, and mobilising international networks will help BigU accelerate pilots, transfer technology, and create locally adapted business models for Ukraine’s waste and blue-economy challenges.
